Leo Kazanjian, 86

Latham - Leo Kazanjian, 86,of Michaelangelo Street, died peacefully Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Northwoods at Troy after a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Troy, he was the son of the late Kapriel Kazanjian and Mary (Vartigian) Kazanjian and husband for 57 years of Rosine Djehizian Kazanjian.

He had resided in Latham since 1971 and was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1939.

Mr. Kazanjian was owner and operator, with his brothers, of Pioneer Market on Congress Street in Troy for 45 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member and Trustee of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II

Survivors in additon to his wife include his children, Robert and Ginny Kazanjian of Atlanta, GA, Karen and Levon Khachadourian of Latham and Leo and Donna Kazanjian of Ballston Lake; a brother, Edward Kazanjian and wife Bertha of Niskayuna; two sisters-in-law, Marguerite Djehizian and Elisabeth Chamberlain; seven grandchildren, Amy and family, Holly, Yvette, Ashley, Mark, Daniel and fiance Alison and Abigail; four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Andrew Kazanjian.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet with Rev. Bedros Kadehjian, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy Wednesday from 4-8 PM.

Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

The family wishes to thank the many friends and family who visited Leo on a regular basis at Northwoods and to the entire staff of Northwoods for their kind and compassionate care of Leo and his entire family.
