Lan Thi Thach Son, 55

TROY - Lan Thi Thach Son, 55, of Pattison Way, died Tuesday, December 12th at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

Born in Tra Vinh, Vietnam, she was the daughter of the late Huoi Thach and the late Xuyen Kim and wife of the late Hoan Ngoc Son.

Lan and her husband Hoan and her family immigrated from Vietnam to Troy in 1985 through a refugee program sponsored by Sacred Heart Church. While in the US, Lan worked initially for Ursula of Switzerland in Cohoes for 15 years, and finally for Comfortex in Troy.

Lan Son was a caring devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her granddaughter Cookie and tending to her beautiful garden. She loved to host many parties for family and friends, cooking many of her wonderful dishes for everyone to enjoy.

Lan and her husband Hoan were inseparable. They loved each other deeply and enjoyed traveling to many places together; especially seeing their loved ones in Vietnam.

Survivors include her four children, Maly Son (Son Vo) of Springfield, MA., Hoa Son (Naly Rath) of Gainesville, VA, Champa Son (Philip Ho) of Parlin, NJ, and Mary Son of Troy; a brother, Hot Thach of Vietnam;a granddaughter, Angelina (Cookie) Vo and her lifelong friends, Huong and Neary Thach of Watervliet.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Gardner Earl Chapel Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Hoan and Lan Son to Sacred Heart School, 310 Spring Avenue Troy, NY 12180. In addition, following the 11:00 Mass on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church, the Son family will be receiving family and friends.
