Cypress, TX - Kenneth Irwin Wheeler of Cypress, TX, formally of Ballston Spa and Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord Monday, August 25, 2008 with his loving family by his side. A son...brother...husband...father...grandfather... is now at peace

Ken was born on June 22, 1943 in Troy, NY. He was son of the late Thomas and Thelma (Austin) Wheeler and was predeceased by a sister, Barbara (John "Jack") Smith.

He graduated from Watervliet High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy from January 1962 to May 1966. Ken worked in food management of which 20 years was with Restaura Dining at the Kesserlring Site in Ballston Spa.

Ken leaves behind a family that loved him dearly; his wife , Mary L. (Buher) Wheeler, of 38 years; two children; Christina W. (A.J.) Verestrate of Cypress, TX and Kenneth I. Wheeler II and his companion Lori Cook of Saratoga Springs, NY; 3 grandchildren, Nicholas, Connor, and Lauren Verestrate whom he cherished dearly; a brother, Ronald Wheeler and a sister, Beverly Wheeler both of Nassau, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ken's greatest passions were watching his grandchildren grow and being an active part of their lives. Because of this, they will miss their "Papa Cane" more than words can say.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. John Tallman, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8PM

Interment will be in the Memory's Garden in Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Ken to St. Jude Children Research Hospital Po Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Northeastern New York Chapter 6 Greenwood Drive East Greenbush, NY 12061.
