John L. Rescott

West Sand Lake - John L. Rescott, 81, of Route150 died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Samaritan Hospital after a long  illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late John Albert Rescott and Gladys A. Lewis Rescott and husband of Elizabeth ‘Ellie’ Hoenderop Rescott. They would have been married 60 years on September 2nd of this year. He had resided in West Sand Lake all his life and was a graduate of Averill Park High School, class of 1951 and attended Siena College. 

Mr. Rescott began in the mail room and ended with Verizon in Menands as an engineer for 32 years, retiring in 1985.  

He was a member of the Sgt. Walter Adams American Legion in Averill Park and NY Telephone Pioneers.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean War serving as a cable splicer in Germany. 

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son,  J. Chris (Mary) Rescott, VA; two daughters,  Deborah E. (Richard) Cretaro, East Greenbush and Tammy L. (Peter) Carbone, PA; a sister,  Linda Brown, SC; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister,  Lois Rescott.

Relatives and friends may call at the Sand Lake Baptist Church  2960 NY Route 43,  Averill Park on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 3-5 PM with a service to follow at 5PM  with Rev. Sam Kupeyan , Pastor, officiating.
