John E. 'Jack' McCabe Sr. , 91

Brunswick John E. 'Jack' McCabe Sr. , 91, of North Lake Avenue Brunswick, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Fred Helmus McCabe and Anna Blaine (Calhoun) McCabe and beloved husband for 70 years of Helen Brown McCabe. He resided for 58 years in the house his mother was born in at 383 North Lake Avenue in Brunswick and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mr. McCabe was employed for 39 years as a mechanical engineer for W.T. LaRose in Cohoes later serving as a consultant. He and his wife were former owners of the MC' Bar Ranch.

He was an 85 years member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Troy now Hope United Methodist Church in Eagle Mills, a life member of the Crescent Boat Club and a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks, Grafton Trail Riders, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and King Solomon's Masonic Lodge #91 in Troy now Apollo-King Solomon's.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, John E. McCabe Jr.(Anita P.) of Troy; a daughter, Dolores Jacon (Thomas S.) of Weaversville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Charles F. McCabe and D. David McCabe and several brothers and sisters, Elwood McCabe, Ruth Gibson, Dorothy Mae McCabe, Margaret Banker, Fred McCabe Jr, and twins LeRoy and Leland McCabe.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 AM at the Hope United Methodist Church 566 Brunswick Road Eagle Mills with Rev. David Martin, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, in Troy.
