John Boyd Allendorph, Jr.

Troy - John Boyd Allendorph, Jr., 94, of Burdett Avenue and formerly of Rhodes Ave, Wynantskill died Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late John Boyd Allendorph, Sr. and Loretta Higgitt Allendorph and husband for 44 years of the late Albertine M. Milos Allendorph. He had resided in the Troy area all his life, was a 1941 graduate of Troy High School and attended Siena College. 

Boyd was a  tax accountant for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for 30 years, retiring in 1978.  

He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel and for many years was a member of the Air National Guard at Stratton Air Force Base.  

Survivors  include three sons, William B. (Diane) Allendorph, Troy, Barry Allendorph, Troy and Dennis M. (June Degnan) Allendorph, Averill Park; 4 grandchildren, John, Jason, Barry and Tobias Allendorph; two  great grandchildren, Alexander and Eban Allendorph and a sister, Beryl Gilbert, Daytona Beach, FL.  He was predeceased by brother, 2nd Lieutenant William G. Allendorph, died in service during World War II.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4-7 PM . 

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM at the  funeral home with Deacon Charles Wojton, officiating.

Interment will be in  Oakwood Cemetery Troy.  T
