Joan T. (Dugan) DeGiorgio

August 20, 1935 ~ June 27, 2014 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Troy - Joan T. Dugan DeGiorgio, 78, passed in to eternal rest , Friday, June 27, 2014,   and left this world to be reunited with her family in Heaven. 

Joan was born to Charles J. and M. Dorothy Aurelie Archambeault Dugan in Watervliet August 20, 1935 and married to Sebastian D. ‘Dodo’ DeGiorgio, former Troy Police Captain, on June 18,1963 in Canaan, Connecticut until his passing in 1990.
 
She attended Watervliet schools and worked at the Central Market in Watervliet. 

Joan moved to 14th St in Troy the DeGiorgio homestead then built a home on Route 2 in Troy where she and Sebastian raised their family. 

Joan was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church in Troy until it was closed and then a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. She was active in the Watervliet Elks and Armory little league, Joan enjoyed her trips to NJ in the early years of her family and golf trips with her husband. Joan joined the YMCA and found a whole new group of friends to have fun with in her later years. A caring loving mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be missed by many who knew her and never forgotten by her family.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Glen Buckley) Hayner and (the late Joe Hayner), Sebastian G. (Shaley Cornforth) DeGiorgio, Joan C. (Andrew) Zlotnick and Paul M. (Lori Bernard) DeGiorgio; her grandchildren: Margaret and Heather Hayner, Andrew, Nicole, Michael and Joshua Zlotnick, Anthony and Nicholas DeGiorgio; a stepson, Brian DeGiorgio and his former wife, Mary (Beaudry) Young and their son, Scott and Anna DeGiorgio. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Filomena Carello, Mary Trad, Elizabeth (Marc) Ruggieri and Lucy Karichkowsky. Joan was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Katherine DeGiorgio, her step grandson, Brian DeGiorgio (Survived by his children: Anna Faith, Brian, Elizabeth and Kasey DeGiorgio) and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters: Charles, Walter, James, William Edward, Mary and Dorothy Dugan along with their spouses. 

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the funeral home and at 12 Noon at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor.

Interment  will be in  St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Joan T. DeGiorgio to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
