Jennie 'Jane' Hidley Tschumi, 93

Troy - Jennie 'Jane' Hidley Tschumi, 93, of Seventeenth Street died Friday, September 30, 2011, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Charles Hidley and Florence File Hidley and wife for 73 years of George B. Tschumi Jr. She had resided in Troy most of her life and was a graduate of Troy High School and Mildred Elley in Albany.

Mrs. Tschumi was a secretary at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for many years retiring in 1982 working in the office of President George Lowe and previously worked in the administration office of St. Mary's Hospital for 5 years.

She was a member of Christ Church United Methodist, the church organist, a member of the choir and United Methodist Women. She was also a volunteer for the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Cross. She was a concert pianist. Jane was as kind and gentle as the flowers that she loved to grow in her yard.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her daughter, Patricia A. Hargreaves, Troy; her grandchildren, Diana Friedlander and Adam, Lisa and Raymond Leftik and her great grandchildren, Jonathan and Christopher, Lauren, Allison and Adam.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday from 4-6 PM with a funeral service following at 6 PM.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jennie Tschumi to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
