Jean Barnum Hughes, 84

Cohoes - Jean Barnum Hughes, 84, formerly of Troy died Tuesday, July 05, 2011, at Eddy Village Green after a long illness.

Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Harold K. Barnum and Grace Lang Barnum and wife of the late Wallace Bohnhoff and Leslie James Hughes. She had resided in Cohoes and Albany, many years in East Greenbush and on Hamilton Avenue in Troy prior to Millers Corners in Schodack, Hawthorne Ridge and since March of 2011 at Village Green in Cohoes and was a graduate of Cohoes High School, earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Miami and a partial Masters from the University of Albany.

Mrs. Hughes was a teacher for the US Army preparing soldiers for their GED during World War II and a homemaker.

She was a member of the East Greenbush Eastern Star and enjoyed playing bridge and reading detective stories.

Survivors include her sister , Ruth B. Campbell, Troy; two nieces, Sarah C. (Sally) Becker, Greenwich and Nancy (Edward) Petteys, Rensselaer; two nephews, William J. (Andrea) Campbell, Delhi and David Robert Campbell, Wynantskill; great nieces and nephews, Johanna (Carlos Sesia) Campbell, Andrew (Ashley) Campbell, Benjamin (Julie) Campbell and a beloved friend, Monica Kilgallon, Troy.

Memorial service at a time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jean B. Hughes to the St. Augustine's Church North Troy, NY.
