Janice Smyth Simons, 75

Taborton, NY Janice Smyth Simons, 75, died at Albany Medical Center on June 25 after a short illness. She was born in Troy, New York, daughter of William Nelson Smyth and Anna Ehlers. She is survived by her husband Thomas Grange Simons V; sons, Thomas Grange Simons VI (Vickie) and Nelson Smyth Simons (Lori); daughter, Janice Anne Kullman (Bill); four grandchildren and several cousins.

Janice graduated from Russell Sage College and earned a Masters degree in Education from Oneonta State Teachers College. She taught grammar school in Lansingburgh and in Lincoln, Massachusetts after her marriage. While living in Eastchester, N.Y., she was president of Waverly School PTA, President of the Home School Association, and president of several charitable organizations. After the retirement of her husband they moved to Mt. Pleasant, S.C. where she was active in Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, especially in the Stephen Ministry. She was a member of the Women's Republican Club and several social clubs.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 28 at 6PM at Zion UCC in Taborton where she and Grange were married and where she spent many summers. Funeral services and burial will be held on July 5th and 6th in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Russell Sage College, 45 Ferry Street, Troy, NY 12180. HER JOY FOR LIFE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED.
