Jane Ellen (Evans) Zollo, 52

BRUNSWICK -- With angels by her side to spirit her to our Lord in heaven, Jane Ellen (Evans) Zollo died on Dec. 7, at the age of 52 from metastatic melanoma.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1958, she was the daughter of David Richard and Nancy Ellen Evans, sister of David Norman and Daniel Richard Evans.

She graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1982, as a registered nurse. Then, she moved to New York City, continuing to work as an RN at New York University Medical Center, where she met and later married her soul mate and life companion, Paul Cameron Zollo. After completing a bachelor of science degree in nursing at Hunter College in NYC, Jane and Paul settled down in Brunswick, N.Y. Jane continued her nursing career at St. Peter's Hospital and Albany Cardiothoracic Surgeons, PC. Then, she completed her education, obtaining a masters of science in nursing from SUNY Utica/Rome Institute of Technology to become an adult nurse practitioner. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. Jane then worked as a nurse practitioner for Albany Associates in Cardiology for many years.

Outside of work, Jane's greatest joys were spending time with family, particularly her nephews and nieces; traveling; and enjoying music, fine food and gardening. She also had a passion for running, having completed six marathons and numerous triathlons. One of her greatest personal accomplishments was participating in the 2007 Muscleman Half-Ironman Triathlon in Geneva, N.Y., and qualifying for the national championships.

Jane was predeceased by her beloved dog, Ghost, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis Michael and Jean Marie Zollo.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Paul; dog, Lucky; parents, Dave and Nancy; brothers, Dave (Ching) and Dan (Ann); sisters-in-law, Margaret and Petra; brothers-in-law, Mark and Frank; nieces and nephews, Ian, Marcus, Celine, Alexandra, Colin, Emilia Rose and Luke; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jane's family expresses sincere appreciation and gratitude for the excellent care she received at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, under the direction of Dr. Philip Friedlander, Dr. Sara Russell and Dr. Ian Dunn. Sincere thanks to Dr. Anthony Ferraioli for his expert guidance over the past several years. And heartfelt gratitude to members of Albany Associates in Cardiology for their continued support for many years.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Ave., Troy, N.Y. with Rev. David Martin, officiating.
