James P. Quickenton Sr., 81

Troy James P. Quickenton Sr., 81,of Mason Street, died suddenly Friday, July 9, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Frank Quickenton and Julia (Coons) Quickenton. and husband of the late Alice M. Rockenstyre Quickenton.

He had resided the past 36 years in Troy.

Mr.Quickenton was a bus driver for CDTA for 11 years retiring in 1987 and worked for many years at the Williams Press in Menands.

He was a member and Past Commandant of the Marine Corp League O'Brien Detachment Albany and the Department of New York Marine Corp League and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific theatre.

He is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Andrew) Bockleslaugh of KY, Patricia (Philip) Boccagni of KY and Susan (Gerald) MacDougal of Troy; a son, James P. (Tina) Quickenton Jr. of Apopka, FL; a sister, Loretta (Alfred) Flynn of Albany; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:30am from the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 11:00am from St. William's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-9pm. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Quickenton to the Marine Corp League O'Brien Detachment in Albany.
