James E. Kane, Jr.

West Sand Lake - James E. Kane, Jr., 74, of Grange Road died Monday, September 14, 2015, after a long courageous battle with cancer, at home with his daughter, Kelli M. Kane and longtime companion, Patty Sinnott by his side. 

Born in Albany, he was son of the late James E. Kane, Sr. and Doris Harrington Kane Wernig. He had resided the past 30 years in West Sand Lake. 

Jim was a self employed roofer and a carpenter for many years.  He was a life member of the West Sand Lake Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and for 25 years worked the monthly breakfast.  He loved bingo, fishing, his garden, spending time with his family, the New York Yankees and was a Marine Corps veteran.    

Survivors in addition to his daughter and companion include, four daughters from a previous marriage; his brothers, Thomas Kane, Nevada, William Kane, Philippines and Dennis Kane, East Greenbush; his sisters, Janice Marconi, Nevada, Carole Vath, Stuyvesant, Debra Kane, Nevada and Delores Kane, Nevada, a brother-in-law, Dennis Sinnott, West Sand Lake; a step brother, Dick Wernig, Schodack and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step father, John Wernig; two brothers,  Robert and Charles Kane; two sisters, Sandra Bradley and Doris Kane and a step brother, Jack Wernig.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5-7 PM with a service to follow at 7PM with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson, officiating.

Interment will be Saturday at 10AM at New Rural Cemetery Rensselaer.
