Helen M. Vece, 84

Troy - Helen M. Vece, 84, of Heyden Road Troy died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John J. Maloney and Lena Hart Maloney and wife for 63 years of Joseph F. Vece. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1944 and earned her real estate brokers license from Hudson Valley Community College.

Mrs. Vece was a secretary for the Troy School District, in the Coordinators Office for 20 years and later was employed by Jack Frost Real Estate in Troy as a Realtor for 5 years retiring in 1990.

A great woman of faith, she was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a former communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church and a member of the Mother's Club. She was a member of the CSEA though the Troy Schools. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of people in need.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Susan M. (Vito) Grasso, Troy, Mary C. (Stuart) Wright, Woodbridge, CT, William T. Vece, Troy, Joseph J. (Gina) Vece, Troy and Nancy M. (Duncan) Johnson, Glenmont; a sister, Rita Tippins, Troy; her grandchildren, Christopher J., Kathryn J., and Meghan J. Vece, Caroline and Rebecca Grasso and Zachary C. R. Wright and a great granddaughter, Charlotte J. Vece. She was predeceased by two brothers, John J. and Robert M. Maloney.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James J. Vaughan.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy. A special thank you to the Troy Fire/EMT and the staff of the ER, ICU/CCU and Pastoral Care of Samaritan Hospital.
