Troy-Helen R. Shober Peters, 87,of Troy, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at her residence after a long illness.
Born in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Casper Shober and Nelly (King) Shober and wife of the late Glenford Allen Peters.
She had resided many years in Troy.
Mrs. Peters was employed many years at the former Berk-Ray and retired from Montgomery Ward as a clerk in the returns department.
She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, Teamsters Union and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Murray (Jim) of Claverack; a son, William G. Peters (Debbie) of Troy; four sisters, Catherine Robinette of Cumberland, MD, Phyllis Ryan of Cumberland, MD, Anna Stallings of West Virginia and Rosemary Smith of Wilmington, DE; seven grandchildren Billy, Andy, Chris, Josh, Chad, Kim and Melissa; 12 great grandchildren, Ashlea, Marissa, Nick, Tiffany, Alicia, Derick, Destiny, Justin, Chelsea, Heather, Tony and Charlie and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Staglemeyer and seven brothers Harold, Robert, Joseph, John, Edward, Thomas and Franklin Shober.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue and at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 9-10:30 AM prior to the service.
Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
