Schenectady - Helen Jones died quietly in Schenectady, NY. on Sunday, May 21, 2017. A long-time resident of the Capital District area, Helen resided in Burnt Hills the last quarter of her life. Born in Schenectady in 1921, Helen Podbielski, daughter of Andrew and Helen Podbielski, Helen married the late Rev. Norman C. Jones and raised four children who survive her: Craig, Diane, Rodney and Elizabeth (James). She also leaves three grandchildren: Aaron Jones, Erika Stone and Kelsey Stone and three great-grandchildren: Theo Jones, Eli Jones and Rowan Boyd, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Helen was known by all as a kind, sweet person. She gave to many charities, and was a communicant St. Adalbert’s Church in her youth; she was active throughout her adult years in the United Methodist Church. She didn’t ask for much for herself; she was happy to enjoy the birds at her feeder or a phone call from family. She left a legacy of finding the positive, looking on the bright side and finding joy in the simplest things.
If you would like to contribute in her name, she had many favorite charities. Dear to her heart were nature, animals, church and helping those less fortunate.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Ballston Spa Village Cemetery corner of Garrett Rd. and Ballston Ave., Ballston Spa on Thursday, June 8 at 11AM.
