Helen Himes Jones, 89

Troy - Helen Himes Jones, 89, formerly of Sage Hill Lane died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Frank P. Himes and Hazel D. Link Himes and wife of the late Paul R. Jones, prominent Troy attorney. She had resided all her life in Troy and was a graduate of Emma Willard School and earned her Bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College.

She was a summer resident of Forest Lake Park in Grafton. She was a member of Troy Women's Club, Ilium Literary Club, Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, Eddy Memorial Foundation, a former vice president of the Junior League of Troy , and a member of the alumnae associations of Emma Willard School and Russell Sage College. She was active for over 40 years in the Troy Boys & Girls Club and was a delegate to the national convention when girls were invited to join the boys club, was a member of Hall of Fame and chair of Camp Barker. She was a member of the board of Vanderheyden Hall Association for 25 years and was Director of Red Cross blood drives. She was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy, a member of the Altar Guild and the first woman on the Vestry. She was Chair of the Scholarship Committee of the Albany Episcopal Diocese.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Jones (Gary) Higbee of Troy and Nancy E. Jones, Esq. of Grafton; two sons, Paul R. "Buzz" (Maureen Madden) Jones III of Troy and Peter B. (Darcy Adams) Jones, Esq. of Troy; her grandchildren, Matthew M. Jones, Abigail M. Jones, Madalyn A. Jones and Dylan A. Jones. She was predeceased by a brother, Howard F. Himes.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy .

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 PM.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
