Helen Rice Kenyon Johnson, 101

West Stephentown - Helen Rice Kenyon Johnson, 101, of Route 43, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born in North Schodack, NY she was daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude Mackey Rice and wife of the late Joseph A. Kenyon and J. Franklin Johnson. She had resided in North Schodack until 1933 upon moving to West Stephentown. She lived in Troy for 13 years, moving back to West Stephentown upon the death of her husband, Frank. Mrs. Johnson was educated at Rensselaer High School and Albany Business College.

Mrs. Johnson was a stenographer and secretary for Swartz and Levenson for 2 years, receptionist for Dr. Elizabeth Palmer for 14 years and retired from the RPI library in 1975. She later worked with her husband in Frank Johnson Real Estate.

She was a member of the West Stephentown Baptist Church, Stephentown Senior Citizens and the Stephentown Historical Society.

Survivors include two sons, Calvin J. (Suzanne) Kenyon of West Stephentown and John F. (Sandra) Kenyon of Poestenkill; a step daughter, Margaret Emery of Dunham Hollow, NY; 6 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Angus Rice and a sister, May Senrick.

The family wishes to thank The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County and all Helen's care givers for all they did for her in her final years.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2PM at the West Stephentown Baptist Church 1672 NY 43 with Rev. Tryvge Tomlinson, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours.

Interment in Hillside Cemetery in West Stephentown.
