Helen Karl Dobert, 91

Guilderland Helen Karl Dobert, 91, passed away Monday at St. Peter's Hospital Albany.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Frederick and Kate Miller Karl and wife of the late Milton Dobert. She had resided in Troy until 1934 when she moved to Albany and had resided in Guilderland for over 35 years. She was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mrs. Dobert was employed at the Grand Union Company as a Comptometer Operator and for the State of New York Unemployment Insurance Department for 18 years retiring in 1974.

She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 10 years working on bloodmobiles. She was a member of the Woodside Presbyterian Church in Troy, serving as one of the first woman Deacon and Elder, Past President of Woodside Women, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was a member and Past Matron of Ella Nicholson Fort Orange Chapter #429 Order of the Eastern Star and Cyrene Temple #18 Daughters of the Nile. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons Chapter #980 Guilderland, the Wynantskill Seniors, Guilderland Prime Timers and the CSEA.

Mrs Dobert was grandmother of the late Gail E. Dobert, who was killed in a plane crash over Croatia on April 3, 1996 with Ron Brown.

Survivors include a son Kenneth W. Dobert of Moriches, LI and a daughter-in-law Maureen F. Dobert of Moriches, LI; a sister Ann Legenbauer (Ernie) of East Poestenkill; a grandson Raymond C. Dobert (Darla) of O'Fallon, MO; three great-grandchildren Alexandra Gail Dobert, Caroline Sophia Dobert and William Vandiver Dobert all of O'Fallon, MO and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister Lois Karl Hoffman.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30am from the Woodside Presbyterian Church Mill and Erie Streets Troy, with Rev. Dr. James C. Mosher, Pastor an dthe Rev. Alfred Siegel, co-officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9pm. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Dobert to the Woodside Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society 1450 Western Avenue Albany, NY 12203.
