Helen F. (O'Neil) Davis

Troy - Helen F. O’Neil Davis, 88, of Collins Avenue died Friday, October 21, 2016, at Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center.

Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Daniel Joseph O'Neil and Helen Frances Curley O'Neil and wife for 65 years of the late George Daniel Davis, Jr. She had resided all her life in Troy and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and attended college in Plattsburgh and The College of St. Rose.                                                 

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and many years ago worked at Bell Telephone in Troy.  

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, taught swimming at Grafton State Park and was a member of Home Bureau for 64 years and Birchkill Arts and Crafts Guild . She also served as President and held other official titles.  Mom loved creating a homey atmosphere and made it a place to be.  She was a Brownie, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. She loved music, sewing, crafting, spending time on weekends at Hedges Lake with family as well as was as star struck with the Hollywood of the 1940's.  She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.    

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Davis) Larson, Warsaw, NY; two sons, George (Dennise) Davis , Vienna, VA and Thomas Paul (Joanne) Davis, Edgewood, MD; four grandchildren, Laura Larson (Eric) DeBadts, Rob Larson, Cory Davis and Thomas F. Davis; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Verklier.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 4-7 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at the  funeral home  Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Helen F. Davis to the Sacred Heart Church Memorial Fund 310 Spring Avenue Troy, NY 12180.
