Helen S. Dobson Bowen

Defreestville - Helen S. Dobson Bowen, of Cedar Run, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2006 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany after a very brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Port Henry, NY on December 2, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. Dobson and Virginia (Eddy) Dobson. She had been married to the love of her life, Frederick E. Bowen, for 34 years at the time of his passing in 1994.

She is survived by her devoted children, Jody L. Risko and her husband John of East Nassau, NY and Lori A. Bowen Esq. of Wilkes Barre, PA; three adoring granddaughters, Molly Elizabeth, Sarah Elise and Jill Marie Risko all of East Nassau; her siblings, Mary Janet Nerrie of Wolfeboro, NH and W. Joel Dobson of Greer, SC; nieces and nephews and her granddogs, Tucker and CeCe. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clark Dobson.

Helen's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and especially loved activities with her granddaughters. Her support and devotion as a mother was unsurpassed and will never be forgotten. She also enjoyed time with her friends, playing bingo, shopping and making everyone around her laugh. At the time of passing she was still employed full time at Capital Region Family Health Care where she enjoyed the comradery of many of her co-workers.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church State and Third Streets Troy with Rev. Michael Gorchov, rector, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy Monday from 4-8 PM.

Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Helen's family wishes to thank all of the good people at the Hospice Inn whose care and compassion provided great support in her final hours. Helen's extremely short illness has left those closest to her at a loss for words but they know that she would want to be remembered for the hell raising lifestyle she lived and not for the illness that took her from us. It is therefore with heavy hearts that we say we will forever love and miss you and know that you are in a better place, once again together with your loving Fred.

Those wishing to remember Helen in a special way may send a memorial donation to St. Peter's Hospice Inn 315 South Manning Boulevard Albany, NY 12205 or American Cancer Society 260 Osborne Road Loudonville, NY 12211.
