Niskayuna- Harry T. Shamlian Esq, 76,of Niskayuna, prominent area attorney, died Wednesday June 28, 2006, at his residence after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Toros Shamlian Sr. and Mary (Djehizian) Shamlian and beloved husband of Lucille (Dolly) Chichakian.

He had resided in Niskayuna for the past several years and Latham prior to that. He was a graduate of Troy High School, State University of New York at Albany and Albany Law School, class of 1954.

Mr. Shamlian operated a private law practice for most of his professional career in Troy. He also served as legal consultant for the NYS Department of Municipal Affairs (Department of Audit and Control), Administrative Hearing Officer for the NYS Department of Health, Deputy Corporation Council for the City of Troy and for 11 years preceding his retirement as Rensselaer County Family Court 1st Support Magistrate.

He was a member of the Rensselaer County and NYS Bar Associations and a member of the Rensselaer County Bar Grievance Committee.

Harry was a lifelong member of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet and a former member of the Church Parish Council, having served as its chairman for several terms. A member and former Commander of the Knights of Vartan and also served on the National Board of Directors and as National Treasurer for the ACYOA (Armenian Church Youth Organization).

He was a former member of the board of directors of the Community Gardens of the Capital District and a Master Gardner for the Cooperative Extension Service.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Craig T. Shamlian (Karin) of Latham, David S. Shamlian (Kathi) of Guilderland and Harry R. Shamlian (Kate) of Latham and a brother, Toros Shamlian Jr. of Latham. He lived for his seven beautiful grandchildren, Adam, Nick, Matthew, Caroline, Sarah, Victoria and Elizabeth.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30am at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy - Schenectady Road Watervliet with Rev. Stepanos Doudoukjian, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday from 4-8pm. .

Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie.
