Harry R. Ammian, 82

Troy - Harry R. Ammian, 82, of Thirteenth Street died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Dickran Ammian and Alice Maksudian Ammian and husband for 59 years of Rosemary Tabakian Ammian. He had resided in Troy all his life and was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy and Hudson Valley Community College.

Mr. Ammian was a Certified Life Underwriter for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 25 years and later worked in the office of St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy for 10 years.

He was an active member of St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet and a former church Trustee and member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club. He was a Supervisor of the 4th Ward City of Troy, a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, the Yankees and Duke basketball . He was a Marine Corps veteran stationed in the Pacific theatre and participated in the occupation of China.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Alice L. (James DePaul) Ammian, Troy, Harry A. (Mary) Ammian, Loudonville and Donna (Mark) Vallee, Niskayuna; three grandchildren, Matthew, Kaitlyn and Megan Vallee; a brother, Richard (Joan) Ammian, FL; a sister-in-law, Winifred Ammian, Latham; three nieces, Christine (Michael) Egan, Lisa (Peter) Hansen and Susan (Andrew) Quackenbush and several grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Leo Ammian.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church 100 Troy-Schenectady Road Watervliet on Saturday from 9-10:30 AM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday following the calling hours at 10:30 AM with Rev. Stephanos Doudoukjian, Pastor, and Rev. Garen Gdanian, Pastor Emeritus officiating.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery Menands.

The family wishes to thank the Rubin Dialysis Center and staff, Dr.s Benton, Goldstein, Arora and Walders and the ICU staff of Samaritan Hospital for all their loving care.
