Gladys Catherine Jones Monahan, 90

North Greenbush - Gladys Catherine Jones Monahan, 90, of Arden Lane Wynantskill died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center Troy.

Born in Lansingburgh, she was daughter of the late S. George Jones and Marie Kristine Eriksen Jones and husband of the late Vincent H. Monahan, who died in 1981. She was raised in Lansingburgh and had resided in Wynantskill since 1952. She was a salutatorian of her class at Lansingburgh High School and a graduate of Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing and Russell Sage College Evening Division.

Mrs. Monahan was head nurse on the night shift of Samaritan Hospital and later worked in the Emergency Department. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Corp during World War II.

She was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church and the former Church of the Ascension in Troy.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen M. Monahan of Wynantskill and Gail P. Monahan of Pasadena, CA; a sister, Marion McIntyre of WA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Betty McNamee and Dorothy Eddy and a brother, George Jones.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 11AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. John Kelly, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7pm.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
