Gertrude A. Hayner, 89

Wynantskill - Gertrude A. Hayner, 89, of Wynantskill passed into Eternal Life on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

She was born on March 28, 1921, in Albany to the late Stanley G. Schoonmaker and Pamiela J. Osborne Schoonmaker. She was raised in Troy and was a Graduate of Troy High School and Cobleskill Agricultural and Technical Institute (now SUNY Cobleskill) with a degree in Institutional Management . Following graduation, she lived in NYC for one year. Upon her return to Troy, she was employed by Montgomery Ward and the Troy YWCA working in her dietary field. She married LeRoy J. Hayner on December 15, 1946 and shared 42 years together until his passing on March 30, 1988. She was also predeceased by her beloved younger daughter, Darla S. Hayner on June 15, 1988. She cherished their memories on her heart.

She spent her life making a warm and loving home for her family. Gert was an outstanding baker and cook whose blueberry muffins and apple crisp were favorites. She loved to cook and bake for her family, friends, neighbors and church. Mrs. Hayner enjoyed listening to talk radio, country and gospel music and her trips to Cape Cod and Ogunguit, ME. She resided in Wynantskill since 1979 and was a member of the First Reformed Church in Wynantskill and a former member of the Wynantskill Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver, Pamela J,. Hayner, with whom she resided. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, J. Mira Hayner (the late William) of Troy and many loved nieces and nephews and long-time friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill Church Street and Main Avenue Wynantskill with Rev. Kerri Weldon , Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 9-11 AM prior to the service.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery Wynantskill.
