George Warren Snyder, 90

Troy - George Warren Snyder, 90, of Pawling Avenue died Tuesday, June 02, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Willard B. Snyder and Martha Bellows Snyder and loving husband for 67 years of Doris R. Murphy Snyder. He had resided in Troy all his life and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mr. Snyder was employed at Alleghany Ludlum in Watervliet and later for Al-Tech Specialty Steel for 41 years, retiring in 1983.

George was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family, telling stories and sharing jokes.

He was a 3rd Degree member of the Latham Colonie Knights of Columbus Council 3394, a Past Faithful Navigator 4th Degree member of the Monsignor Looney Assembly in Albany, a Standing Member of the Monsignor Reilly Assembly in Rensselaer, a member of the American Legion of Wynantskill and a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy. He was an Army Air corp veteran of World War II.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Donna R. Bidwell of Eagle Mills, Mark (Patricia) Snyder of Wynantskill and MaryLou (Jeffrey) Snyder-Dunn of Largo, FL; his grandchildren Chris (Bill) Anslow, David (Sharon) Bidwell, Cindy (Tom) Paff, Scott (Bridget) Bidwell, Beverly (Craig) Wojtaszek, Tonya (Scott) McIntyre , Mark (Amy) Snyder Jr., Thomas (Renee) Snyder and Heather and Shannon Gallup; his great grandchildren, Selena (Todd) Skiba, Billy and CJ Anslow, David (Kerri) Bidwell, Kayla Bidwell, Tom, Mike, Carissa and Caitlyn Paff, Paige Bidwell, Marissa, Morgan and Tyler McIntyre, CJ and Alexandra Wojtaszek and Troy, Griffin, Hailey and Marli Snyder; his great great grandchildren, Dylan Skiba and Tyler Bidwell; a sister-in-law Vera Facteau; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sons, Airman FC George Snyder USAF and David Michael Snyder; a son-in-law, Ronald J. Bidwell; a brother, Willard Snyder and two sisters, Irma Collins and Marjorie Meeker.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 12:30 PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Yanas, Pastor.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4- 8.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
