George E. McMann, 73

Brunswick - George E. McMann, 73,of Grange Road, died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after being stricken at his home.

Born in Troy, he was the son of Jane (Williams) McMann of Troy and the late George McMann and husband for 42 years of Janet Frances Fostner McMann, who died in September of this year.

He had resided in Brunswick for the past 42 years and was a graduate of Watervliet High School.

Mr. McMann was employed as a machinist and in research at the Watervliet Arsenal for 33 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a Commander of VFW Brunswick #837 and a member of VFW Watervliet #729, active in the Brunswick Boy Scouts, managed little league teams as well as was active in Babe Ruth and Pop Warner. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was in the 80th Fighter Bombers of the 319 Fighter Squadron. He was an avid Giants, Cardinals and all around sports fan.

Survivors in addition to his mother include three sons, Michael W. McMann (Kim) of Stephentown, Joseph George McMann of Brunswick and Daniel Patrick McMann (Jennifer) of New Baltimore; two grandchildren, Joseph Michael McMann and Madeline Barbara McMann; a sister, Carolyn Turner (Stanley) of West Sand Lake and a nephew, Keith Turner of West Sand Lake.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy and at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. McMann to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard Rensselaer, NY 12144.
