George N. Cooper, 81

East Schodack- George N. Cooper, 81,of county Route 7 East Schodack, died Saturday, December 24, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.

Born in Enfield, CT, he was the son of the late Albert Cooper and Dorothy (Klein) Cooper and husband for 54 years of Joan M. Charbonneau Cooper.

He was raised in Enfield, Connecticut and resided most of his life in Nassau and East Schodack and was a graduate of Columbia High School in East Greenbush.

Mr. Cooper was a repairman and installer for the New York Telephone Company for 39 years retiring 20 years ago.

He was a member of New York Telephone Pioneers, a founding member of the Chandler Young Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post in Nassau, a member of the Burden Lake Country Club and the Nassau Sportsman's Club and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an avid golfer and baseball fan.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Lawrence Douglas Cooper (Jeanne) of East Greenbush, Thomas George Cooper (Lynda) of Averill Park and Daniel James Cooper (Jill) of Young, AZ; a daughter, Christine Joan Zimmerman (George) of Castleton; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Lucas, Joseph and Isabelle Cooper, Stacey Plumadore (Robert) and Joshua and Justin Zimmerman; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Kia Plumadore and several nephews and a niece, Robert Cooper, James Cooper (Charlene), Richard Cooper (Joanne), William Cooper and Kathi Cooper Pratt (Darin). He was predeceased by a sister, Helen and four brothers, Albert, Arthur, William and Edgar.

Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Nassau, NY
