Gary V. Cerreta

February 25, 1950 ~ September 5, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Troy - Gary V. Cerreta, 67, of Kinloch Avenue died suddenly Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Born in Pittsfield, MA, he was son of the late Vincent Cerreta and Grace McGowan Cerreta and husband for 26 years of Susan E. Sweet Cerreta. He was raised in Pittsfield and resided in the Troy Area since 1977 and was a 1968 graduate of Pittsfield High School and earned his Bachelors degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute  and Masters from State University of New York at Albany in 1988. 

Gary was a computer programmer and analyst for Farm Family Insurance in Glenmont for the past 5 years and previously worked for Cluett, Peabody & Co. and the Bank of America.   

He was an active life member of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks #2556 where he was chairman of the Veterans Affairs Service Committee serving popcorn and ice cream at the Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center  7 times a year.  He was also a member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill and on the Consistory, Search Committee and a Vice President of the church.  He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, kayaking with his brother, was an avid Red Sox fan and doing Sudoku puzzles.    

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Lee A. Cerreta (Robert) Spinelli, Albany; a son, Peter V. Cerreta, Troy; two grandchildren, Bobby and Lana Spinelli; a brother, Ralph (Debbie) Cerreta, Cheshire, MA; his In-laws, Ruth and Matt Sweet, Troy and 4 nephews. 

Relatives and friends may call at the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill Church Street and Main Avenue Wynantskill on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 9-11 AM with a service at 11 AM with Rev. Dawn Alpaugh, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Eagle Mills Cemetery Eagle Mills.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Gary V. Cerreta to the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill PO Box 159 Wynantskill, NY 12198.
