Poestenkill - Frederick A. Voellm, 85, of Snyders Corners Road died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at his residence after a long illness.
Born in Wynantskill, he was son of the late August B. Voellm and Alice Haber Voellm and husband of the late Carolyn Carner Voellm. Fred resided in Wynantskill and Grafton, but spent most of his life in Poestenkill and was educated in Troy schools.
Fred was a arborist, tree climber and road crew foreman employed by the NYS Department of Transportation retiring in 1991.
Fred enjoyed and appreciated every moment he spent with his family and friends.
He was a member of the N.R.A. He loved motorcycles, but would only ride a Harley Davidson.
Fred is survived by his children, Karen M. Voellm of Washington, DC, Cmdr. Frederick R. (Catalina) Voellm USN retired of Alexandria, VA, Eric A. (Ranita) Voellm of Coxsackie, Lynn A. (Stephen) King of Sutton, NH and Mark J. (Susan) Voellm of Wynantskill; his brother, Louis Voellm of Franklin Square, Long Island and sister, Barbara Lanier of Albany; his grandchildren, Patricia Criscione, Anthony Voellm, Carlita Dowding, Froilan, Michael, Marvin, Jose, Mayrell, Joseph, Romel, and Anastasia Voellm, Jennifer Grabiec, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Carrianna, and Carli Voellm; 15 great-grandchildren including his great-granddaughter, Alexis Criscione; several nieces and nephews; and his companion, Norma Knauer;. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ruth Geddis and Alice Kirby.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday from 4 - 8 PM.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Green, officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery Wynantskill.
