Schenectady - Frederic J. Cassin, 85, of Altamont Avenue died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at The Avenue Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre.

Born in Michigan, he had resided most of his adult life in New York State.

Mr. Cassin was an editor for the Weekly Reader magazine.

Survivors include 8 children; 8 grandchildren; a great granddaughter and a sister and was predeceased by a son.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11AM at Evergreen Cemetery, Main Avenue in Wynantskill .
