Francis X. Monahan Sr., 94

Troy Francis X. Monahan Sr., 94 ,of Troy, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at his residence in Troy.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late John J. and Nora O'Donnell Monahan and husband of the late Frances M. Schreier Monahan. He had resided in Troy all his life and was educated at Troy High School, National Radio Institute and attended Hudson Valley Community College for classes in hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and photography.

Mr.Monahan was employed as an electrical supervisor for the Ford Motor Company in Green Island for over 44 years, retiring in 1973.

He was a past president of the American Institute of Plant Engineers, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy. Frank was a member of the Ancient Order of the Deep for crossing the equator during his US Navy service in the Sea Bees in World War II on the USS John Penn. For over 30 years he played Santa Claus for the Mountain View Fire Department.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Carolyn Hennessy of Troy; six grandchildren, Darcy Hennessy McGrath of Troy and Dana Hennessy Symmons of Delmar and Francis X. Monahan, III, Arlene, Brian and Cheryl Monahan all of MI,; his great grandchildren, Molly and Connor McGrath and 6 additional great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Susan Monahan of MI and and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Francis X. Monahan, Jr.; five sisters, Mary Murphy, Gertrude Lyons, Anna Monahan, Loretta Lay and Mable Simmons and three brothers, John, Joseph and Thomas Monahan.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues Troy and at 11:30am at Sacred Heart Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Interment St. Jean's Cemetery, in Troy.
