Francis John 'Red' Guthier, 74

Eagle Mills - Francis John 'Red' Guthier, 74,of Pinewoods Avenue, died suddenly Friday, March 30, 2007 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

He was the loving husband of Josephine Azzarello Guthier for 50 years.

Born in Troy, he was raised in Watervliet. He resided many years in Troy and Brunswick and was a graduate of Watervliet High School.

Mr. Guthier was a machinist Supervisor at Benet Weapon's Lab of the Watervliet Arsenal for 32 years, retiring in 1987.

He was an active Life Member, current "day crew" member, Past Assistant Chief and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Eagle Mills Fire Department. He was a life member of the Brunswick Sportsman Club and Forbes Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. He was a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War.

Survivors in additon to his wife include his children, John Guthier (Claudette) of Granada Hills, CA, Kathleen McGinn (James) of Wynantskill, Vincent Guthier (Sharon) of Averill Park and James Guthier (Elizabeth Miller) of Eagle Mills; two brothers, Gerald Guthier (Joan) of CT and Thomas Guthier (Carlene) of NC; his grandchildren, David and Steven Guthier, Patrick McGinn, Susan Guthier and Christopher Miller, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine (Murphy) Guthier and a sister, Mary Fowler.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Pastor Tom Sardella, Redeeming Love Gospel Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7PM. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery in Watervliet. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Guthier to the Make - A - Wish Foundation 950 New Loudon Road Latham, NY 12110.
