I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Balistreri's passing. He was a very great man. He ignited my love of music that persists to this day. He had a special place in his heart for the poor kids like me and always found a way to help us out. I will never forget his patience. Or his smile. I don't remember many of my teachers from School 14. I will never forget Me. Balistreri's kindness or his wisdom. He was truly one of a kind. He is a hero to me.

What a kind and patient man he was with all of us at PS#1. We must have been torturing him with our attempts at mastering musical instruments, but he never let it show.

To the Balistreri family my condolences go out to all of you As I knew Mr. Balistreri he was a gentile man and a great Music and Band instructor. I had the pleasure of Mr Balistreri in the DMS back in the late 70's he was able to take me from making dieing moose sounds on the Trumpet to a lifetime of music. I hope that some small part of what he taught me was to inspire others to try music. You should know that years after we finished our school careers we still reminisced about the good times that we had back in Band with Mr Balistreri.

Unfortunately I didnt get to meet Fran throughout my years in Troy schools. However, I am so grateful to have been able to care for him. Fran brought sooo many laughs to our unit & was loved by EVERY One that was lucky enough to meet him. Always such a sweet, sweet man, even on his bad days he'd always apologize. My heart goes out to his family and especially Eileen, whom I know loves him so deeply & Never leaving his side throughout his whole stay with us. Prayers for you all. Im really gonna miss you, Fran.

Many, many years ago, Mr. Balistreri was our music teacher at School 1 in Troy. I have never forgotten his kindness and his love for his little musicians. My sincere wishes to his family for comfort. He was a wonderful person who left the world better because he was here.

Frank and I taught music at Doyle for many years together and he was a marvelous teacher and friend! He was a kind soul and we shared many happy moments together. I will always smile when I remember the day the asst. principal locked Frank in the men's room in the auditorium (by mistake) the day before spring break. Luckily I heard him and we got him out of there. We laughed about that for a long time! My condolences and love to the family. RIP dear friend!

Aunt Eileen and Mark, I am so very very sorry to hear about Uncle Fran's passing. I have to say I just admired all of you and loved our visits to your house when we were younger.
