Poestenkill - Farnam P. Caird, 79, of Blue Factory Road Poestenkill died Friday, August 3, 2018, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Philip B. Caird and Gladys M. Phillips Caird and husband of the late Marjorie MacAskill Caird. He had resided in Poestenkill for 40 years and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, earned his Associate’s degree from Hudson Valley Community College, his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the State University of New York at Oswego.
Mr. Caird was employed as an industrial arts teacher for 30 years at Columbia High School in East Greenbush and later was a security guard for Samaritan Hospital for 5 years.
He was President of the Rensselaer County Agricultural and Liberal Arts Society at the Schaghticoke Fair for 59 years. He was also a member of the Early Engine Club of Schaghticoke, the Brunswick Lodge of Elks and the Mount Ida Preservation Association. He loved woodworking.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Brant Caird, Troy and James Farnam (Kristin) Caird, Malta; a daughter, Jane Katherine (David) Champagne, Brunswick, NY; 4 grandchildren, Katherine Grace and Sophie Love Champagne, Emily Ann Caird and Teegan Mae Caird.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
