Ethel L. Oliver Hellum, 76

East Greenbush - Ethel L. Oliver Hellum, 76, of Luther Road East Greenbush, died Friday, August 3, 2007 at Albany Memorial Hospital.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Howard M. Oliver and Mintha M. (Rich) Oliver and wife of the late James A. Hellum, whom she married on October 14, 1950.

She was raised in Averill Park, resided in Massapequa, Long Island from 1955-78 and in Center Barnstead, NH from 1978-97 and was a graduate of Averill Park High School class of 1948.

Mrs. Hellum was a member of Chichester United Methodist Church and the Congregational Church of North Barnstead in New Hampshire where she enjoyed singing in the choirs. She also enjoyed homemaking, reading and writing letters and cards.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan G. Ashford of New York City, Bonnie J. (Dwaine) Brechbill of Chambersburg, PA and Donna J. Hellum of Quincy, MA; four sisters, Virginia Snyder of Buffalo, Carolyn Nash of Averill Park, Judith (Warren) Dobert of Averill Park and Jane Weber of Taborton; a brother, Donald M. Oliver of West Sand Lake, two granddaughters, Crystal (Brandon) Arthur of Hagerstown, MD and Bethany E. Brechbill of Chambersburg, PA; a great grandson, Braydon J. Arthur of Hagerstown, MD and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl M. Hellum; a brother, H. Douglas Oliver and a grandchild, James G. Brechbill.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 route 150 West sand Lake.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-6:00 PM prior to the service.

Interment Riverview Cemetery in Pittsfield, NH.
