Latham - Erwin J. Kelly, 81, of County View Road Latham died Monday, September 14, 2009, at St. Peter's Hospice Inn Albany after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late George Warren Kelly and Agnes Potts Kelly and husband for 52 years of Connie Weaver Kelly. He was raised in Troy where he resided until 1961 and later moved to Latham. He was a 1946 graduate of Troy High School, a graduate of Canton Agricultural and Technology class of 1948, attended RPI night school and graduated from Russell Sage Evening Division in 1962.

Mr. Kelly was the Director of Conciliation for the New York State Public Employment Relations Board for 20 years retiring in 1990. After his retirement, he continued working independently as a labor arbitrator and mediator. He began his career in employee relations for the Behr-Manning and later Norton Company for 20 years.

He was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church where he taught Sunday school. He also was a member of many professional labor relations and arbitration organizations. He cherished his family and friends and enjoyed boating and swimming.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Katherine (Mark) Thompson of Homewood, IL; a son, Peter J. (Janice) Kelly of Latham; a brother, Harold (Elaine) Kelly of Clifton Park; his grandchildren, Michael and Peter Thompson and Sarah and Andrea Kelly and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Warren Kelly.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church 146 First Street Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday from 4-8 PM.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
