Elizabeth A. (Distin) Large

Troy - Elizabeth A. Large, 65, died Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Samaritan Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late Robert Distin and Mary Sammon Distin Miller and wife for 42 years  of David W.  Large. She was raised in Albany but had resided in Troy for the past 40 years. Elizabeth was a graduate of Mercy High School in Albany and earned her associates degree from the State University of New York at Cobleskill. 

Elizabeth was the Director of Student Services at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for 31 years retiring in 2014.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her daughter, Cheryl Lynn (Jay) McGlothlin, Poestenkill and their children William and Caitlynn; and her step son, Jeffrey Spierre, Poestenkill, and his daughter Jeanine.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, November 01, 2016 from 4 - 7PM. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at the Christ Sun of Justice RPI Chapel and Cultural Center 2125 Burdett Avenue Troy with Rev. Edward  Kacerguis, Pastor, officiating.
