Elaine G. Tashjian

Elaine G. Tashjian, 76 Troy Elaine Guth Tashjian, 76, of Thompson Street, died Thursday at Samaritan Hospital Troy after a long illness. Born in Lake City, Iowa she was daughter of the late Henry and Angeline Kuhne Guth and wife of Joseph J. Tashjian Sr. for 47 years. She had resided in Iowa for 3 years, raised in the Wilsall, Montana area and resided in California until coming to Troy in 1953 and was a 1947 graduate of Montana State University receiving her degree in physical education. Mrs. Tashjian was employed as a physical education teacher in California in the 1950's and was a homemaker for many years. She was a member of the Troy School Board of Education, a South End Day Camp Director, a Cub Scout Leader and a member and Elder of Woodside Presbyterian Church in Troy and a member of the board of Missions of the Albany Presbytery. Survivors in additon th her husband include three sons Joseph J. Tashjian Jr. DVM and wife Karen of Springville, NY, Henry 'Hank' G. Tashjian and wife Kim of Wilsall, MT, retired Undersheriff for Park County, Montana and Paul J. Tashjian and wife Patti of Clifton Park ,a computer systems analyst; a sister Chloris Zimmerman of Wilsall, MT; seven grandchildren Gordon, Henry, Hans and Eva Tashjian, Tawnya Greenfield and Carly and Benjamin Tashjian and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Evelyn Massman. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00pm from Woodside Presbyterian Church Mill and Erie Streets Troy with Rev. Dr. James C. Mosher, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church Sunday from 2-3pm prior to the service. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
