Eileen FitzGerald Ramroth , 84

Troy - Eileen FitzGerald Ramroth , 84, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 26, 2012 at St Peter's Hospital.

Born in Troy January 20, 1928 to Thomas F. and Mildred (Clampett) FitzGerald. Eileen was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1946, and Russell Sage College cum laude, class of 1950.

Eileen began her professional career as the Assistant Director of the Cohoes Youth Center. She was later employed as a caseworker for Rensselaer County Children's Services. In 1950, she married Donald G. Ramroth and they became the proud parents of a son and four daughters. After 15 years at home, Eileen returned to Rensselaer County Children's Services as a senior caseworker. In 1969, she became a social worker for the Troy School District and after 14 years in that position she retired to relocate to Tennessee. In 1993, upon her husband's retirement, they returned to Troy.

Eileen was a member of the R.P.I. Women's Club and several bridge groups .She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with her husband and close friends, Todd and Joan Ryan, and vacationing in Maine.

Eileen is survived by Donald, her loving husband of sixty-two years. Her five- children Diane (Patrick) Dunne of Fairfax, VA, Donna (Robert) Miller of Troy, Donald (Laura) Ramroth, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, Ellen (William) Piccerelli and Cynthia (Thomas) Ferdenzi both of Barrington, RI. Her sixteen grandchildren Erin (Michael) Donofrio and Patrick (Amy) Dunne, Christopher, Gregory (Charlotte), Alison and Jason Miller, Evan and Ellyn Ramroth, David (Heidi), Mark, Matthew(Alexa) and Ashley Piccerelli, and Matthew, Katherine, Caroline and Emily Ferdenzi. Her four great-grandsons Henry, Sullivan and Murphy Dunne and Riley Miller. Her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Mary Jane FitzGerald and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home and at 10 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Randall Patterson , Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Russell Sage College 65 First St Troy, NY or the Rubin Dialysis Center 1850 Peoples Ave. Troy, NY.
