Troy Dwight W. Manning Sr., 59, of Stow Avenue, died Friday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Troy, he was son of Gladys Engwer Manning of East Greenbush and the late David P. Manning Sr. and husband for 37 years of Linda Mancino Manning. He had resided in Troy all his life and attended Troy schools.
Mr. Manning was a tandem system operator for Norton Company, now Saint Gobain in Watervliet, for 37 years, retiring in June of 2002.
He was a member of the United Paper Makers Union Local 17 and a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing and repairing and constructing in his workshop. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam era.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include a son, Dwight W. Manning Jr. and wife Nicole of North Greenbush; a beloved granddaughter, Jenna Manning of North Greenbush; two brothers, David P. Manning Jr. and wife Gail of Wynantskill and Darryl W. Manning of Troy; his mother-in-law, Marion Mancino of Troy; a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Dolores and Ted Kokernak of Troy and Kenneth Bradt of Troy and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues Troy and at 9:30am from St. Michael the Archangel Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
