Thank you Jan and family for sharing the good doctor with our family so many years ago. Dr. Bill was first my ophthalmologist, he gave my parents hope that I would not go blind. Now I see 20/20 without specs thanks to cataract surgery! Then he was my Sunday School teacher for many years. A couple of times he advised me to persevere despite academic difficulties. I still remember as an impudent youth advising him that a prominent physician should drive something classier and sportier than a '53 Ford. Gratefully, Tom Laquidara

I am so sorry for your loss of Bill/Dad. He was a wonderful, life-filled man who I will remember with great fondness. I saw him so frequently after my Mom moved to The Terrace. I love the picture you chose of him for his memorial. It is the adventurous man I remember and know so many funny stories about. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. xxxx Beth Barrett

Dear Jan,
I was so sorry to learn of Bill's passing. We were out of the country and unfortunately will be out of state this weekend.
I'm a better ophthalmologist for having known and worked with Bill McCarty. He will always be remembered as an excellent physician and surgeon.

Dear Mrs. McCarty, Mark and family:
We would like to let you know how sorry we are to hear of Dr. McCarty's passing and that we are thinking of you at this somber time. We always enjoyed seeing you at the family gatherings, especially Pam's Christmas parties. We wanted to come to the calling hours Saturday but we had already committed to helping out our church deliver 2500 tins of Christmas cookies and help with the church supper following. Our thoughts will be with you. If we can be of any help with anything, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

I would like to extend my condolences to the McCarty family at the passing of Dr William - I was a former patient and admittedly one of his toughest cases - Dr McCarty never gave up on trying to save my vision even directing me to specialists when he could do no more within his scope of vast knowledge - I am pleased to say that thanks to all his caring and guidance that I'm still able to see. Dr McCarty also did a surgical procedure on my daughter as a baby and he laughed when i said to him "Do you feel old now that your treating the second generation of my family"? - He was a very gentle, kind and caring soul - I felt honored to have known him if only as a patient

We have lost a wonderful man! Bill and Jan were the first to extend loving hospitality and friendship to me as a newcomer to the area. Both were full of life and their love for each other amazing. In many ways Bill was my hero. He will certainly live FOREVER in the memory of those who knew him! We are fortunate that Jan stays with us.
