He never was too busy nor tired to discuss their needs. Prior to these years, he was a member of the medical staff of Cornell University for 10 years, where the students flocked to his service.

Wendell began his career in Richfield Springs, NY, as the sole physician in a large rural area with a 24-7 schedule requiring distant home visits during the night.

The love and gratitude of his hundreds of patients was evidenced by the steady stream of friends and professional associates visiting Wendell's family following the service at the farm: his wife Jane, their three daughters Wendy Bryce-Wilhelm, PhD of Acme, Washington; Jennifer Bryce-Walker PhD of Danby, Elizabeth Bryce-Bell of Marietta, Georgia; one son Wendell L. "Chip" Bryce of Danby, 8 grandchildren with whom he shared his love of the earth; one brother - L. Merrick Bryce of Troy; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
