Diva Barachini Daims, Ph.D., 87

West Sand Lake - Diva Barachini Daims, Ph.D., 87, of Old Best Road died Sunday, August 18, 2013 of natural causes at her home.

Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late Dario Barachini and Carolina Paoli Barachini and wife of the late Leon Daims. She was raised and lived most of her life in Albany and later resided in Columbia County until the past year in West Sand Lake. She was a graduate of Schuyler High School in Albany, SUNY Albany for her Bachelor's Degree and earned her Doctorate at Union College.

Dr. Daims was a Professor of Literature at the State University of New York at Albany for over 40 years.

She enjoyed reading, gymnastics and baking pies.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Barbara Tonne) Daims, West Sand Lake, Kurt (Aimee) Daims, Brattleboro, VT and Eric Daims, Averill Park; 5 granddaughters, Willa (Michael) Delliere and Lilly Tonne-Daims and Clara, Roxy and Rio Daims and a sister, Dorothy Mazzacua, West Sand Lake. She was predeceased by a sister, Dalia Barachini.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Saturday from 2-4 PM.
