I met Dr Casey 19 years ago when I joined him in practice; spent over the years many nights, days, weekends and holidays working alongside. Watched and helped him touch and save so many lives, so many memories that will forever stay in my heart. How difficult and painful, his own life couldn't be saved. Our love and prayers to Mrs Casey and family.

Chris was my mentor and my friend, from the time I met him at Wilford Hall to when he left practice. I miss him terribly. My prayers are for him and his family.

Dear Kathy,
My prayers are with you & your family. I recall 1 day, during our freshman year at SUNY. Your eyes sparkled when you said you were meeting Chris, later that day. I imagine he filled you & your children's spirits with such loving qualities.

I am so sorry for your loss. Death is mankind’s enemy, so often we are robbed of the ones we love. However, the Bible promises a time when no one will die. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4) In the near future God will destroy death and restore those who have died back to life. They will have the prospect of living forever in paradise on earth. I know that words cannot remove the pain in your hearts, but it is my hope that they bring you comfort during this difficult time.

My heart goes out to Kathryn, Kate, Ryan, Laura, and Megan at this time. I had the great pleasure of growing up alongside Kate and Ryan. I have always looked up to Mr. Casey and his many accomplishments. He was always very hospitable and showed me great kindness. Some of my best memories consist of the Casey family together at their lake house. Accompanied by a sunset and so much laughter. I am comforted that he was surrounded by the people he loved most, the best people I know.

I am one of Dr. Casey’s patients. He and God saved my life March 28,1998 after 26 minutes of no pulse. This was about 1:00 a.m. after Dr. Casey had a full day of work. He came back to the hospital after almost making the trip home. This was the kind of person Dr. Casey was. We became friends and he was such a wonderful doctor and family man. I respected him and so grateful for his dedication to saving lives like mine. I will never forget Dr. Casey and his family. Rest In God’s Peace.

Have read so many kind words at this site about Chris. Not surprising...he was an excellent physician and so loved and respected by family and friends. I'll always remember him fondly. He was a fine teammate on the Troy High School swim team. Condolences to all.

I doubt there's anything I can say about him that the family hasn't already addressed, but I'm heartbroken right along with them. Personally, I looked up to Dr. Casey as a flagship symbol of intelligence and success. The man was a genius. I also can't ever remember a time when I wasn't welcome. He was part of my childhood too, and I'll always cherish and appreciate him for that. I probably ate just as many meals at his house as I did at mine, for a time. He never minded going out of his way for myself or any of Ryan's other friends, either, as long as he knew he was making somebody happy or helping someone out.
It's unfair that he had to go so soon, but I know I enjoyed all the time I spent with him around. That's what I'll always remember.

To Kathryn, Ryan and all your family. Chris was an amazing man, a loving husband and father, and an incredibly smart, capable Cardiologist. I often shared a number of patients with Chris. They were so very appreciative of his time, skill, efforts... and his wry sense of humor. He was respected by all in the medical community and will be greatly missed. Love and prayers to all of you during this difficult time.

It was my honor to work with Chris for 16 years. He taught me so much about medicine. He had an amazing intellect, and unparalleled skill with his hands, but his greatest asset was his gift of relating to his patients. They were fiercely loyal to him, because they sensed his compassion and his confidence that they could help him. A uniquely talented man, and cardiology is diminished in his absence. God bless Kathy and the rest of the family.

Chris was beloved by his patients and highly respected by his peers and coworkers. His contributions to the lives and livelihood of so many in the San Antonio area is beyond measure. I will always treasure the positive impact that he had on my life and career and will miss his intellect and wit.
It's hard to imagine that anyone so accomplished could retain an impish side but I think that the posted picture captures this perfectly and is how I choose to remember him.
