Douglas P. Collins Sr., 63

East Poestenkill - Douglas P. Collins Sr., 63, of North Road died Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital Troy after a long illness.

Born in Albany, he was son of the late Jimmie L. Collins and Elizabeth D. Cook Collins and husband for 45 of Joan Whitney Collins. He had resided in East Poestenkill for 53 years.

Doug was employed by Shawnee Steps for 23 years and Interstate Laminates in Poestenkill for 11 years as a counter top fabricator.

He was a member of the Union Gospel Church where he served as head usher and communion steward for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and carving. He took classes for welding at Hudson Valley Community College.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his grandchildren, Kera Collins of Clifton Park and Randall Collins of Ballston Spa; a brother, Thomas Lee (Nancy) Collins of NJ; a sister, Regina (Stanley) Piekos of Troy and was loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his children, Michelle Ann Collins and Douglas P. Collins Jr.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 - 8 PM.

The graveside service will be held Saturday April 30^th at Noon at Brookside Cemetery in Barberville.
