Dorothy W. Murray Russell, 85

Worcester, MA-Dorothy W. Murray Russell, 85,of Worcester, MA died Friday, January 18, 2008 at University of Massachusetts Memorial Campus in Worcester.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Charles Murray and Mary (Perrine) Murray and wife of the late Joseph W. Russell.

She was raised in Troy and resided in Hyde Park, NY and Savannah, GA before returning to Troy in 1999. Dorothy resided in Worcester, MA since 2003.

Mrs. Russell was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1939 and Mildred Elley School. She was a homemaker and many years ago a secretary for John Hancock Insurance Company and Murray Electric in Troy .

Dorothy was an active volunteer for many organizations. She loved children and served as a volunteer in the school district in Savannah. While in Troy, she knitted hundreds of hats and mittens for children in need. She was also an avid baseball fan.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Russell of Lancaster, PA and Kathleen M. Russell of Worcester, MA.; two sisters, Myra Dunham of Clearwater, FL and Marilyn LaFleur of Sand Lake, NY; a brother, Charles Murray Jr. of San Antonio, TX and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harry F. and John Murray.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. John McAuley, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 PM.

Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
