Dorothy Ives McChesney, 88

Moriah, NY - Dorothy Ives McChesney, 88, of Lang Road Moriah died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Interlakes Health in Ticonderoga, NY.

Born in Brunswick, she was daughter of the late Alson H. Ives and Gladys Cottrell Ives and wife of the late Donald E. McChesney. She was raised on Congress Street in Troy, she then lived in Poestenkill for 8 years and Brunswick from 1954 until moving to Moriah in 1998 She was a graduate of Troy High School and attended the former Albany Stenotype School.

Mrs. McChesney was a homemaker and the former Brunswick Town Historian.

She was a charter member and past president of Brunswick Historical Society, 11 years program and training director for the Troy Area Camp Fire Girls and a Camp Fire leader for 12 years. She was also a member of the Poestenkill VFW Ladies Auxiliary and W.A.Y.S. Eagle Mills Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Church of Christ Disciples in Troy and taught Sunday school there since 1946 Also a member of the Moriah United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Gail McChesney (Thomas) Baker, Moriah, NY, two grandsons, Benjamin Michael Baker and Isaac Thomas Baker, Moriah and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Ives Daley and Marjorie Wagar.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at the Christian Disciples Church Route 2 and Maple Avenue Eagle Mills on Saturday at 2PM with Rev. Michael White, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Eagle Mills Cemetery.
