Dorothy F. Tasey Gray, 87

Troy Dorothy F. Tasey Gray, 87, of Burdett Avenue, died Wednesday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Joseph and Winifred Norton Tasey. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School.

Mrs. Gray was a homemaker and many years ago was secretary for William Darby, Attorney in Troy.

She was active in St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy for over 60 years where she was a Sunday school teacher, Altar Guild, choir member and did the costuming for the annual pageant for many years. She was also a Cub Scout den mother, a volunteer for many years at Samaritan Hospital and a member of the Ilium Literary Club. Mrs. Gray had her creative side which included expert cake decorating, baking many wedding cakes for couples, she taught quilling at the Eddy and St. John's, was an amateur artist and sang in many area shows.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Gray (Katherine (Kay Ann)) of Richmond, VA and Kenneth P. Gray of Andover, NY; four grandchildren, Susan Townsend-Gray (Christopher Townsend) of College Park, MD, Mark A. Gray of Triangle, VA, Hillary Odgers (Gary) of Nevada City, CA and Joseph Gray of Andover, NY; five great grandchildren, Dwight Alexander Townsend-Gray and Kaitlyn and Heather Townsend-Gray all of College Park, MD and Hannah and Kelly Odgers of Nevada City, CA and a cousin Doris Oakley of Wynantskill. She is also survived by many close friends. She was predeceased by a son Robert Scott Gray.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held Monday at 10:00AM from St. John's Episcopal Church 146 First Street in Troy with Rev. John Kelly, Rector, reading the burial office. A reception will follow in the church hall. There will be no calling hours. Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Gray to the Robert Scott Gray Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. John's Episcopal Church 146 First Street Troy, NY 12180.
