Dorothy A. 'Dottie' Vashrow Breigle, 78

West Sand Lake Dorothy A. 'Dottie' Vashrow Breigle, 78, of West Sand Lake, died peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2003, at her home after a long illness.

Born in Troy and raised in Watervliet she was daughter of the late Leo and Frances Jillisky Vashrow and wife for 56 years of George J. Breigle, former Town Justice. She had resided in West Sand Lake for 55 years and was a graduate of Watervliet High School.

Mrs. Breigle was employed at Niagara Mohawk Power Company in Albany for 10 years and later as a playground monitor at the West Sand Lake Elementary School, retiring after 23 years of service.

She was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a teacher for the release time religious instructions classes, a past member of the West Sand Lake Fire Company Auxiliary and taught Red Cross swimming lessons at Reichard's Lake Beach for many years. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Burden Lake Country Club and enjoyed the very social Monday nite women's golf league. Homemaking and Home Bureau were part of her many hobbies. She was an excellent cook, skilled seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, her roses and dancing.

In addition to her husband she was a loving and caring mother to a son Thomas D. Breigle (Lisa) of Baldwinsville and a daughter Susan A. Sutton (Art Jr.) of Hopewell Junction. She cherished her grandchildren Craig Breigle of Boston, Scott Breigle of Baldwinsville and Karla Sutton and A.J. Sutton III both of Hopewell Junction. She was predeceased by a brother Leo Vashrow. Our special thanks to Pat Martino, Joanne Maher and Dr. Richard Orsi.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:30am from St. Henry's Church in Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Sunday from 3-7pm. Interment Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake.
